Chennai to Trichy

Chennai to Trichy is nearly 350km from the South. Trichy is fully pronounced as Tiruchirapally and it is the fourth largest city in the Tamilnadu state, situated on the banks of Cauvery river. The Cauvery delta is divided into two river streams Kaveri and Kollidam which flows around the srirangam island. 

The City is famous for its temples which depicts ancient and religious significance. SRI RANGANATHA SWAMY TEMPLE , SRIRANGAM

This temple is considered as the one of the most important of 108 vishu temples (Divyadesams) and dedicated to Lord Vishnu located in Srirangam. The temple depicts the exact south indian culure and society.   The temple is also recognized as Thiruvaranga Tirupati, Bhogamandabam, Periyakoil and Bhoologa Vaikundam. The Rajagopuram is the tallest in South Asia. The temple consists of thousands of pillars incarnated with pictures of Maha Vishnu, sculptures of tigers and horses.

TIRUCHARAPALLY ROCKFORT

Tirucharapally rockfort also called as Malaikottai whch is a historic military construction and religious complex bulit on ancient rock. There are three rockcut famous temples in the fort , the Manikka Vinayagar temple at the downhill , the Ucchi Pillayar temple at the tophill and the Thaayumaanavar temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.

UCCHI PILLAIYAR TEMPLE, ROCKFORT

Ucchi Pillaiyar temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha located at the tophill of rockfort. The temple is small and devotees used to climb up the steep steps carved on the rock. At the top , we can visit the entire top view of Trichy , Srirangam , river Kaveria nd Kollidam.

THAYUMANASWAMY TEMPLE, ROCKFORT

The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, Thayumanaswamy. Accoring to Hindu Mythology, Lord Shiva arrived in the form of Mother to attend the delivery of the Pregnant woman who is a passionate devotee. The Lingam is said to be projection of the ancient rock.

JAMBUKESWARAR TEMPLE

 Jambukeswarar temple also known as Thiruvanaikal is one of the five major Shiva temples of Tamilnadu representing the water identity (Appulinga). As Lord Shiva is seated below Jambu tree , the temple got its name Jambukeswaram.

BRAHMAPUREESWARAR TEMPLE

Devotees believe that a person can change his fate by worshipping Lord Brahma (Creator of Universe) at Sri Brahamapureeswarar temple , Tirupattur. Lord Brahma is fully decorated with turmeric and will be seen in Padmasana meditative position in lotus.

SAMAYAPURAM MARIAMMAN TEMPLE

God Samayapurathal or Mariamman deity otherwise called as mother goddess Durga or Maha Kali or Adhi Shakthi. The devotees bvelieved that God Samayapurathal has immense powers of curing illness. On Sundays, Tuesdays and Fridays are the auspicious day , where thousand of devotess worship in this temple.
